There's nothing worse than opening the fridge to find that your and , that you maybe only bought a few days ago, have gone bad. Food waste is not only bad for the planet, but it's not ideal for your wallet either.
Because of this, it's important that you try to prolong the lifespan of your fresh produce as long as possible. Carrots, a popular ingredient here in the UK, are notorious for going bad quickly due to their high water content. However, experts say there's an easy way to make them last for a month without turning into a soggy mess.

The experts at Wheeldon Brothers have shared the best ways to store carrots, helping households reduce food waste and keep their veg crisp and fresh for up to a month.
"Carrots are one of the most commonly wasted vegetables in the UK," a spokesperson said: "The good news is that with proper storage techniques, they can last for weeks rather than days."
The fridge is the most common place people store carrots, but fluctuations in humidity caused by opening and closing the door can cause them to either shrivel or go mouldy.
"Carrots are sensitive to changes in humidity," they explained. "Too much moisture will lead to mould, while too little will dry them out. The key is to create a balanced, stable environment."
To achieve this, place carrots in an airtight container or sealed storage bag, ideally stored in the fridge's crisper drawer. You can also place them in a jar of water and change it every few days to keep them fresh.
Carrots can also be stored at room temperature, but only if the area is cool, dry, and away from direct sunlight or appliances.
"Room temperature storage can work well as long as you keep carrots away from heat sources," the spokesperson said. "Don't wash them before storing - that can remove the protective skin and make them spoil faster."
If you really want to keep your carrots as fresh as possible, using a sealed container can again help slow the dehydration process. It's also important to regularly check the batch and remove any that are starting to soften or rot, as spoilage can spread quickly.
"With the right conditions, carrots can stay fresh for up to a month - whether in the fridge or at room temperature," the spokesperson said.
"It's all about maintaining the right balance of moisture and keeping them in a stable environment."
