Bagalkot: What was meant to be a joyous wedding turned into an unimaginable tragedy in Jamkhandi on Saturday, as the groom collapsed and died moments after tying the knot.

The incident occurred at Nandikeshwar Kalyana Mantapa in Jamkhandi town on Saturday afternoon. The groom, Praveen, son of Shreesha Kurani from Kumbarahalli village, suffered a fatal heart attack while he was preparing to climb the wedding stage to greet guests. Praveen was a noted cyclist and served as the secretary of the local cycling association.

The wedding had started as a festive affair, with relatives and friends from both families celebrating the union of Praveen and Pooja. The rituals, including the tying of the sacred thread, were completed in the morning. However, even before the reception could begin, the groom suddenly collapsed near the stage, leaving the entire gathering in shock.

According to witnesses, the groom was about to take part in the traditional arathi ceremony when he complained of uneasiness and collapsed. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared brought dead. Doctors confirmed the cause of death as a massive heart attack.

The joyous atmosphere quickly turned into grief, with relatives and guests struggling to come to terms with the tragedy. The bride and both families were inconsolable as the wedding venue turned into a scene of mourning.
