Rajkummar Rao Joins Forces with Shoojit Sircar
Following the lackluster box office results of 'I Want To Talk', director Shoojit Sircar is gearing up for a comeback with a new satirical comedy featuring two lead actors. Recent reports indicate that Rajkummar Rao has been confirmed for one of the lead roles, while the search for the second actor is still ongoing.
An insider shared with a media outlet, 'Rajkummar Rao and Shoojit Sircar have been discussing a potential collaboration for some time, and the timing has finally come together for this untitled satirical comedy. Rajkummar has approved the script and aims to begin filming by late 2025.'
Currently, Sircar is actively seeking a complementary lead actor for Rao. The requirements are straightforward: a talented actor with a knack for comedy. Shoojit prefers to collaborate with individuals who are secure in their roles and do not disrupt the filmmaking process. Given the complexities of two-hero films, it is essential to work with the right dynamics. Shoojit has found a match in Raj, who resonates with his creative vision, and the search for the second lead continues.
Shoojit Sircar is renowned for his acclaimed films such as 'Piku', 'October', 'Vicky Donor', and 'Sardar Udham'.
In other news, Rajkummar Rao is preparing for the release of his romantic comedy 'Bhool Chuk Maaf', which will be shown in theaters after a legal dispute with PVRInox.
Originally intended for a direct release on Amazon Prime Video due to tensions related to the India-Pakistan conflict, the film faced backlash from exhibitors who sought Rs 60 crore in damages for a breach of contract. However, a recent court ruling has favored the film's theatrical release, and it is now scheduled to premiere in cinemas on May 23, 2025.
Directed by Karan Sharma and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films and Amazon MGM Studios, the film stars Rajkummar Rao as Ranjan and Wamiqa Gabbi as Titli Mishra, alongside notable actors Seema Pahwa, Sanjay Mishra, Zakir Hussain, Raghubir Yadav, and Jay Thakkar in significant roles.
