Delhi Capitals’ IPL 2025 journey has ended in heartbreak, and co-owner Parth Jindal has stepped up to own the disappointment. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Jindal apologized to the fans after DC's playoff hopes were crushed following a heavy 59-run defeat to Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede on May 21.

In the last match against Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals were shattered for a meager 121 while chasing 180 at the sluggish Wankhede pitch. The loss not only knocked Delhi out of playoff contention but also extended their playoff drought to four long years. Emotions ran high, and Jindal echoed the hurt of every loyal supporter. He wrote:

“@DelhiCapitals fans – like you I too am reeling from the second half of the season. What started so well ended extremely poorly. There are positives to take from this campaign but for now all focus on the next game which we need to win. Post the season there will need to be a lot of introspection on a lot of aspects.”

Jindal has been a regular face in the DC base, cheering for his team more as a fan than as a co-owner. DC, led by Axar Patel this season, had a bright start — winning four straight matches, including famous victories over CSK at Chepauk and RCB at Chinnaswamy. But it all came crashing down fast.

From high hopes to heartbreak: DC’s season collapses in second half

It was the reverse fixture against MI that began the downfall. After that loss, the Capitals couldn’t find their rhythm. Defeats against Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Kolkata Knight Riders followed. Even the rain that interrupted the match against SRH couldn’t wash away their troubles.

Their penultimate blow came at home — a brutal 10-wicket thrashing from Gujarat Titans. And then, the final nail in the coffin: another comprehensive defeat by Mumbai Indians. Presently, DC has one game left in the tournament, against the Punjab Kings, on May 24. Following that, the team will pack thier bags for home, hoping to come back stronger in 2026.
