The Electronics City-Silk Board-Hosur Road stretch of Bengaluru was brought to a standstill on Tuesday, leaving thousands of tech commuters and those traveling towards Tamil Nadu and Kerala facing paralyzing delays, amid heavy rainfall. Bengaluru is reeling under the impact of relentless pre-monsoon showers, with particularly heavy overnight downpours exceeding 100 mm since Sunday pushing the city to its breaking point. Widespread waterlogging and crippling traffic jams have become a daily nightmare in many areas. Orange Alert Issued For Bengaluru The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange alert for Bengaluru on Tuesday, with Bengaluru Urban and Rural districts under a Yellow alert until Wednesday. Moderate rains are expected to continue throughout the remainder of the week. Electronics City Flyover Shut Many commuters reported their usual commute times stretching by nearly two hours. The Silk Board junction bore the brunt of the flooding, with knee-deep water forcing commuters to abandon their vehicles and navigate alternative routes. The widespread inundation between the Roopena Agrahara down-ramp and Silk Board up-ramp led to the closure of the Electronics City flyover for hours. Commuters Share Ordeal And Frustration Swipe Left For Next Video Prakash G, attempting to travel from Silk Board to Singasandra, told the Times Of India, “Yet, my bike and I were submerged in floodwaters near Silk Board. Potholes were many and I got stuck,." Pranay Dubey, president of Electronics City Rising, said. “This is nothing new. The flyover floods every time, leading to multiple accidents. The civic body does nothing more than pocketing toll and ignoring citizens’ concerns."
