What exactly is the case?
An unknown ‘APK’ file came on the mobile of Suresh Borse, a farmer in Messey. They downloaded that file. After this, a total of Rs 1 lakh 3 thousand rupees, such as Rs. In the second incident, Hemant Shinde from Varandi received a message on his mobile regarding ‘RTO Traffic currency’. A file was also added to it. What is the ‘APK’ file?
‘APK’ is a file of Android applications. When you download any app from the Play Store, the same ‘APK’ file is actually installed in your phone. But, when this ‘APK’ file comes from unknown or incredible sources, it can be extremely dangerous.
Cyber criminals suppress goods or spyware in these ‘APK’ files. You downloaded such a file and installed, this dangerous software is active in your phone. With this, hackers can steal confidential information in your phone, such as bank account details, passwords, OTPs and other sensitive data. Once your information comes to the hackers, it was easy to withdraw money from your bank account.
How to protect yourself from cyber attacks?
Stay away from strangers APK files: Never click or download ‘APK’ files or links from any stranger or incredible source. Turn off this option of auto downloads. Also do not download anything like files, photos from any stranger number.
Download apps from the Play Store only: Always use the official stores of Google Play Store (for Android) or Apple App Store (for iOS) to download apps. Avoid downloading apps from any other website.
Beware of the suspicious message: “Your currency is left”, “Your lottery has won”, “The bank account will close”, do not fall prey to any such unknown and attractive message. Banks, government institutions or any other official organizations do not send you such links and ask for information.

Keep the software updated: Always keep update the operating system and other apps in your smartphone. Updates have important security patches, which save your phone from new threats.
Use great antivirus: Install the mobile antivirus of good copies on your smartphone and keep scanning it regularly.
Verify the information: If you get some suspicious messages or calls from a bank, a government department or other organization, please contact the information directly to their official helpline number. Do not click on the number or link in the message.
Don’t share OTP: OTPs that come in the bank transaction are the ultimate assurance of your transaction. Do not share this OTP with anyone, not even with the person who says that the bank officer.
