Shubman Gill, captain of the Gujarat Titans, said that giving up a few more runs against the Lucknow Super Giants was expensive. The club wants to get back on track after losing at home by 33 runs on Thursday.

Despite being eliminated from the playoffs, LSG amassed a huge 235/2 because of the excessive runs that the GT bowlers gave up. Mitchell Marsh, the Australian opener, scored his first IPL century at 117 off 64 balls.

In response, GT started out well but lost Sherfane Rutherford and Rahul Tewatia in rapid succession in the 17th over, which cost them the lead.

We allowed 15–20 more runs to be scored. Gill said it was a wake-up call for the squad, which has already qualified for the playoffs, saying, “It would have made a huge difference if we had restricted them (LSG) to 210-220.”

Gill explained that he did not decide to bowl first after winning the toss in order to assess the team’s postseason preparation.

“Really, no. In the powerplay, we bowled well. Although we didn’t take any wickets, LSG scored a respectable 180 runs in the next 14 overs. Up until the seventeenth over, we were still in the game. Rutherford and Shahrukh batted effectively. Regaining momentum will be crucial in the next match.

In an attempt to get back on track before the playoffs, GT will play their last league game on May 25 against the Chennai Super Kings at the same location.

Player of the Game LSG hadn’t had a fantastic season, but they might end on a high note, according to Marsh, who has played in the IPL since 2010 and eventually hit his first century.

“It has been a long road since I played for the Deccan Chargers. I’m glad to help out tonight. I’ve benefited from opening the innings and working with Aiden Markram.

Even if our season hasn’t been the finest, the next two games are still crucial. They bowled well early on, in my opinion. It’s panic stations in T20s if you’re 12 off 12 and not timing it well. However, today demonstrated that you can persevere and form significant alliances,” he said.
