Washington: According to US President Donald Trump, he would suggest a “straight 50% tariff on the European Union” starting on June 1.

Following Trump’s demand for a 50 percent tax on EU exports, EU trade head Maros Sefcovic responded on Friday, saying that commerce between the US and the EU should be governed by respect for one another rather than threats.
In a post on X, the European Trade Commissioner said that the European Commission was totally involved and dedicated to reaching a mutually beneficial agreement.
“The EU Commission is still prepared to work honestly. US-EU commerce is unparalleled and has to be governed by respect for one another rather than threats. He wrote, “We are prepared to protect our interests.”
