Reims play their penultimate game of the season against PSG in the Coupe de France final this Saturday night at Saint-Denis’ Stade de France. On Thursday, the Champagne side will face Metz at home for the Ligue 1 relegation playoff second leg. Both sides are on level terms following Wednesday’s 1-1 draw. Even if they were to fall into Ligue 2, Reims could still play in the Europa League next season, should they defy the odds and beat the Ligue 1 champions tonight.
For tonight’s Coupe de France final, Reims head coach Samba Diawara is expected to revert to a more robust tactical set-up to try and nullify PSG’s attack. Reims should present a deep-lying 5-4-1 formation to rely on counter-attacks, with their two Japanese international wingers Junya Ito and Keito Nakamura both set to start. Will it be enough to prevent PSG from winning their 16th Coupe de France title and seal a second consecutive domestic treble? After all, Reims have never lost to Luis Enrique’s PSG this season…
