Scindia's Remarks on Rahul Gandhi's Critique
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has asserted that Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, frequently questions the unity of the nation, even when Indians stand united. This statement follows Gandhi's inquiries directed at External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. Scindia remarked that raising doubts about the country's integrity, unity, and respect is a habitual practice of Gandhi, particularly at a time when 1.4 billion Indians are united against elements that challenge India's sovereignty and unity.
Criticism of Timing for Questions
The Union Minister also criticized the timing of the questions posed to Jaishankar by the Congress leader. Scindia questioned the rationale behind raising such issues during critical times when facing threats from terrorists and adversaries. He expressed that this ideology is incomprehensible to both him and others. Scindia, who was once close to Gandhi, switched from Congress to the BJP in 2018.
Gandhi's Counterattack on Foreign Policy
On Friday, Gandhi targeted Jaishankar, claiming that India's foreign policy has been "devastated." He referenced a Congress post that included a video clip of Jaishankar responding to questions about the Pahalgam terrorist attack and the subsequent India-Pakistan conflict during an interview with Dutch broadcaster NOS. Gandhi questioned, "Will Jaishankar explain why India is linked with Pakistan? Why did no country support us in condemning Pakistan? Who asked Trump to mediate between India and Pakistan?"
