PM Modi urges states to unite as ‘Team India’ for growth and development by 2047

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on all states to collaborate with the Centre as “Team India” to speed up national growth and achieve a developed India by 2047. Speaking at the 10th Niti Aayog Governing Council meeting, he emphasized that no goal is impossible when states and the Centre work together.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday called upon all states to work with the Centre as “Team India” to accelerate the country’s growth and realise the goal of a developed India by 2047.

“If the Centre and all the states come together and work together like Team India, no goal is impossible,” he said, addressing the 10th Governing Council meeting of the Niti Aayog here.

In his first interaction with chief ministers and lieutenant governors of states and UTs since ‘Operation Sindoor’, Modi said India’s recent strike on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and PoK must not be treated as a one-off act. He urged states to modernise and institutionalise civil defence preparedness.

He called for converting Viksit Bharat into a people's movement, urging states to work towards making each and every city, town and village developed.

Observing that global investors were “hugely interested” in India, the PM urged states to use this opportunity and leverage the free trade agreements to boost exports, citing trade deals with Australia, UAE and the UK.

He also stressed the need for empowering women, urging states to change laws for women to help them join the growth trajectory. There should be reforms in public and private sectors for working women with focus on their ease of working, he said.

He asked the Aayog to prepare an “investment-friendly charter” for attracting investments. The theme of the Aayog meeting was ‘Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat@2047’.

Key Demands

Chief ministers and lieutenant governors of 31 out of 36 states and UTs attended the meeting along with 15 cabinet ministers and top officials of Niti Aayog, an official statement said.

Absentees included chief ministers of Karnataka, Kerala, West Bengal, Bihar and Puducherry. While Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin pushed for the Centre to share more funds with states, his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann raised the issue of water scarcity. Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu suggested the formation of three sub-groups for GDP growth, population management, and for leveraging AI.

Briefing the media after the meeting, Niti Aayog chief executive BVR Subrahmanyam said there was absolute unanimity across states on Operation Sindoor, which was seen as a symbol of national solidarity against the heinous terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22.
