In addition, he said, the nation “feels like a mini India.”

“We had a meeting with Guyana’s prime minister and vice president today. The senior leaders of both nations spoke well of India and enthusiastically endorsed Operation Sindoor during these crucial encounters. For many years, Guyana and India have had a great connection. Approximately 40% of Guyana’s population is of Indian descent and has ties to Indian culture.

During the British period, around 2 lakh people arrived here to work in agriculture via indentures between 1830 and 1840, mostly from what is now Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. It seems like you’ve arrived in a little version of India, whether it’s for Diwali, the Ramayana, Holi, or Bollywood films,” he remarked.

He also commended Guyana for always supporting Operation Sindoor.

“Guyana often discusses Operation Sindoor, and during this period, Guyana has provided India with unwavering support… It is also the 59th Independence Day of Guyana. We wish all Guyanese a happy Independence Day, and we are also taking part in that program,” he stated.

Shashi Tharoor, a Congress MP, headed the all-party group that landed in Guyana earlier today.

The delegation includes former Indian Ambassador to the United States Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Tejaswi Surya, Shambhavi Chaudhary (Lok Janshakti Party), Sarfaraz Ahmed (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha), GM Harish Balayagi (Telugu Desam Party), Shashank Mani Tripathi, and Bhubaneswar K. Lata (both from the BJP).

The group will convey India’s strong national unity and commitment to fighting terrorism in all of its manifestations. They would convey to the international world India’s resolute stance of zero tolerance against terrorism throughout their outreach.

India’s reaction to the Pahalgam terror assault on April 22 and its larger war against cross-border terrorism are the topics of the delegation’s briefing to foreign partners.

In reaction to the Pahalgam terror incident on April 22 by terrorists backed by Pakistan, which claimed 26 lives, Operation Sindoor was initiated on May 7 as a forceful military response. More than 100 terrorists connected to groups like the Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen were killed as the Indian Armed Forces struck terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
