
Crescent Moon Signals Start of Dhul Hijjah
The sighting of the crescent moon has marked the beginning of Dhul Hijjah 1446 AH in India, confirming that Eid al-Adha, also known as Bakrid, will be celebrated on June 7, 2025.
Eid al-Adha occurs on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah and holds immense significance for Muslims, as it commemorates the readiness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah's command. The moon for Eid al-Adha was observed in Lucknow, affirming the date for the celebration.
Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali, the Imam of Lucknow Eidgah, stated, "The moon for Eid al-Adha has been clearly sighted in Lucknow today. Therefore, Bakrid will be celebrated on June 7. The Eid al-Adha prayers will take place at Aishbagh Eidgah in Lucknow at 10 AM on that day. A comprehensive advisory regarding 'kurbani' will be released by the Islamic Centre of India shortly, and everyone is encouraged to adhere to it."
