Three people have been stabbed and another wounded after a fight involving "a large group of people" in , according to police.

The rushed to the scene at approximately 11:30pm after reports of fighting on on Hinde Street in Page Hall.

A South Police spokesperson said three men suffered stab wounds and were taken to hospital where they received treatment for non life-threatening injuries, a fourth man suffered minor injuries.

Two boys aged 17 and a 24-year-old man have been arrested in connection with the incident.

A force spokesperson confirmed all three remained in custody.

One of the 17-year-old boys has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, affray and assault causing grievous bodily harm.

Another 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of affray.

The 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and affray.

Officers used a dispersal order break up the group.

This order gives officers the powers to direct people suspected of being involved in this activity to leave the area or face arrest, and not return to the area for 48 hours.

Locals in the area are being warned of a "heightened police presence in the area" as the police conduct enquires over the next couple of days.

Superintendent Lee Dowswell said: "We know this incident is likely to cause concern within the local community.

"There will be a heightened police presence in the area, with additional proactive patrols planned today and over the coming days."
