
Udupi: As part of its intensified crackdown on illegal gambling, the Udupi district police have arrested 12 individuals in connection with multiple matka (illegal lottery) cases. The arrests were made based on information provided by a previously arrested matka agent during interrogation by Shirva police.
The accused have been taken into custody across various police station limits in the district:

Jagadish (39), Moodasagri, Kunjibettu
Chidananda (35), native of Koppal, currently residing in Ambagilu
Tippeswamy (52), Madhwanagar, Kodavoor
Raghavendra (41), Santhekatte, Udupi
Uday S Bhandari (45), behind Puttur Bus Stand, Udupi
Padubidri Police Station
Manoj Kumar (39), Uchchila, Bada village
The crackdown follows the arrest of Vitthala Devadiga and Leo Cornelio, who were caught collecting money through matka betting in the Shirva area.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to continue strict action against illegal gambling activities across the district.
