The Athletic understands that Chelsea duo Mathis Amougou (19) and Kendry Paez (18) will join RC Strasbourg Alsace on loan for next season.
Amougou joined Chelsea from AS Saint-Étienne in the January transfer window, however, he has played only a handful of minutes for the first team. With Andrey Santos returning from Strasbourg to join up with the Blues, the prospect of first-team football in a stacked midfield is limited. As a result, he will follow the same path as the returning Brazilian by bolstering his reputation in Alsace.
Paez, meanwhile, will also join Liam Rosenior’s side. The Ecuadorian prospect had been training with Strasbourg in the final weeks of the Ligue 1 season. He will return to RCSA and compete in the club’s upcoming UEFA Europa Conference League campaign.
Chelsea, who share the same BlueCo owners as Strasbourg, have qualified for the UEFA Champions League. As the pair are not competing in the same competition, transfers and loans between the two entities are permitted.
