
Australia Squad for T20I Series vs West Indies: Australia has announced its 16-member team for the five T20 International series against West Indies next month. In the team, Mitchell Owen and Matt Kuhneman have been selected for this format for the first time. At the same time, Jack Fraser McGarg is shown the way out.
McGark has been a part of seven of Australia’s last eight T20 Internationals, scoring only one half-century and in the remaining six innings he could not even cross the 20 mark. Xavier Bartlett and Marcus Stoinis are also excluded.
Owen was the top scorer in the last season of the Big Bash League and scored 452 runs in 11 innings at an average of 45.20 and a strong rate of 203.6. In the final match, he made Hobart Harikens the champion by playing an innings of 108 runs in 42 balls.
Mitchell Marsh will captain the team, who performed brilliantly in IPL 2025 playing for Lucknow Super Giants. Marriage scored 627 runs in 13 innings, including his first century in the IPL.
Recently, Maxwell, who retired from ODI International, is part of the team, while Tim David, who was part of the IPL 2025 champion RCB, has also got a chance. Cameron Green and Cooper Konoli have also returned to this format. Josh Hazlewood has also returned, which was not a part of the last T20 International series against Pakistan.
The series of five T20 matches between Australia and West Indies will begin in Jamaica from 19 July. Before this, a series of three Test matches will be played. Therefore, the selectors have rested Pat Cummins, Travis Head and Mitchell Starc in the T20 series.
