Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has, for the first time, candidly addressed why only the three Khans — Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and himself — have dominated the Indian film industry for decades, while other actors haven’t achieved the same stature.

In a recent podcast appearance, Aamir opened up about various aspects of his life, including his childhood, both of his marriages, a romantic relationship with a third woman, and his film career.

Reflecting on his humble beginnings, Aamir shared that he came from a financially struggling family but reached great heights in the film industry purely through hard work and perseverance.

During the conversation, Aamir recalled a unique story from 1996 when Shah Rukh Khan gifted him a laptop. Surprisingly, Aamir admitted that he neither used nor even opened the device for four years. When he eventually tried to power it on, it wouldn’t start—rendered useless after years of disuse.

He explained that he’s never been comfortable with technology or digital tools. “Even today, I don’t enjoy Zoom meetings. For me, a real meeting means sitting face-to-face. Everything is in my mind—I don’t rely on laptops or computers,” he said.

Addressing comparisons among the three Khans, Aamir emphasized there was never any negative rivalry between them. “Maybe in the 1990s or early 2000s there was a healthy competition to deliver better performances, but it was never hostile,” he said.

Aamir further clarified that he never tried to compete with others. “My only competition has always been with myself. I aim to do better than my previous work each time,” he added.

He acknowledged that all actors — including himself — naturally aim to deliver the best work possible. In that spirit, there may have been a positive drive among the three Khans to excel, but it never involved putting each other down.

When asked why only the three Khans are highlighted in Bollywood discourse, Aamir expressed confusion. He pointed out that many other talented actors from the 1990s — such as Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, and Sanjay Dutt — also delivered blockbuster films and enjoyed great popularity.

“I don’t understand why only the three Khans are talked about. There have been other amazing actors whose films also did well,” he said, acknowledging the achievements of his peers.

Aamir speculated that the sustained dominance of the three Khans might be due to the unparalleled commercial success of their films. “Maybe it’s because our movies earned more than others, breaking more records,” he suggested.

He concluded by stating that while the success of the Khans may be attributed to box office results and consistent performances, the industry is filled with many other deserving and talented actors.
