Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Deepika Padukone's exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit, the actress has reportedly also quit the second part of her blockbuster film, Kalki 2898 AD. Her decision to step back from the film reportedly stemmed from her demand of having an 8-hour work shift.According to a report by Bollywood.mobi, Deepika requested the makers of Kalki 2898 AD for shorter work hours, as she is now a mother to baby girl Dua, whom she welcomed in September 2024. However, due to the film being mounted on a massive scale, the makers are reportedly finding it difficult to accommodate her demand, and thus, they are now planning to remove or cut her role short.Neither the makers nor Deepika have issued an official statement on the report yet.The first part of Kalki 2898 AD showed Deepika as a pregnant woman, carrying the Lord Vishnu's Kalki avatar in her womb, whose birth will save the post-apocalyptic world from an evil ruler. Going by the screenplay, she will give birth to the saviour of the world in the second part of the film. The film, which drew concepts from the Mahabharata, also starred Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas and Kamal Haasan in lead roles.A few days ago, Deepika was all over the news after reports surfaced that she was removed from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's upcoming film with Prabhas, titled Spirit, after she asked for 8-hour work shifts, a massive fee and a share in the film's profit. While her exit was not officially declared, Vanga announced Triptii Dimri as the female lead of the film.He also accused Deepika of leaking the script of Spirit which he had shared with her as she was approached for the film earlier. "When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) between us. But by doing this, You’ve ‘DISCLOSED’ the person that you are…Putting down a Younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for? As a filmmaker, I put years of hard work behind my craft & for me, filmmaking is everything. You didn’t get it. You won’t get it. You will never get it (sic)," he wrote on X, without taking names.
