On one hand, while many platforms are running on the subscription model today, on the other hand, WhatsApp is still one of the few platforms that is offering so many facilities for free. Even after being free, the company adds many new features to this app every month, which are helpful for the users in some way or the other. The company added features like disappearing messages, chat lock, and companion device support on the platform some time ago. Even with so many amazing features, the interface of the app remains quite clean and user-friendly.
At the same time, now once again WhatsApp is going to get a big privacy update, which can completely change the use of the messaging app. Soon you will get the facility to hide your mobile number on the platform, but now the question is that if the phone number is not visible then how will you talk to someone? Chatting with mobile numbers has been a special feature of WhatsApp for years. So now how will the new privacy feature work? Let us know...
The phone number will not be visible on WhatsApp.
Actually, according to a recent report, WhatsApp is working on a privacy update with which the user on the platform will get the facility to hide his mobile number by creating a username. Users have been waiting for such a feature for a long time. WhatsApp is also finally going to add support for usernames to its app, allowing people to connect with others without sharing their mobile numbers.
This new feature has been spotted by WABetaInfo in a recent beta version of the app, which shows that the company is actively testing its interface and rules for it. Although it is not yet available to regular users, the company may roll it out in the future with the next update.
How will this new feature work?
Once the usernames are live, you will be able to create a separate handle, just like you set up a username on Telegram or Instagram. When someone wants to chat with you and does not have your mobile number, they will soon see your username. This can be especially helpful in group chats or when connecting with new people. Although the company has not yet disclosed the launch date of this new feature, it seems that the feature is in the last stage of testing after which it can be introduced.
