The Uttar Pradesh government has given a big relief to the candidates for recruitment to the posts of Sub-Inspector (Sub-Inspector) Civil Police and equivalent posts. The state government has decided to give a relaxation of three years in the age limit. The Home Department has issued an order in this regard. This relaxation will be given for direct recruitment to 4543 vacant posts from the selection year 2020-21 to 2024-25. However, this relaxation is for one time. On May 23, Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and demanded relaxation in the age limit in the interest of the innumerable youth of UP. During this, the MLA of Jewar said that in the interest of the innumerable youth of the state, discussed the issue of providing relaxation in the age limit in police and various recruitment examinations. He told CM Yogi that the youth whose age limit has expired due to the Kovid-19 epidemic and other circumstances should be given a special relaxation in the age limit once so that the youth of the state can join the police and other recruitments. MLA Dhirendra Singh says that CM Yogi listened to the things seriously and assured them to consider the matter sympathetically.

Earlier also relaxation was given in constable recruitment.

Earlier in December 2023, during the recruitment of 60,244 posts of constable civil police, candidates were given a year's relaxation in age limit. Many MLAs of the ruling and opposition including former Chief Minister of the state Akhilesh Yadav, and MLA Dhirendra Singh had demanded relaxation in age. Lakhs of candidates were affected due to a lack of police recruitment in the last five years and the process being stopped due to the Corona epidemic. The Chief Minister had taken this decision after the demand of opposition parties and candidates. During that time the board had estimated 25 lakh applications, but about 48 lakh applications were received.

Exemption has been given in special circumstances.

According to the new order, this relaxation of the age limit has been given under special circumstances under the Uttar Pradesh Public Service (Relaxation of Age Limit for Recruitment) Rules 1992. This decision will be applicable to candidates of all categories. Notification for recruitment to the posts of Sub-Inspector is expected to be issued soon, after which the application process will start.

This decision of relaxation in age limit has brought relief to those candidates who were waiting for recruitment for a long time and were becoming ineligible due to crossing the age limit. This step is also likely to increase the number of applications drastically.
