Historic Day! 1st Train To Kashmir To Be Launched By PM Modi Today; Check Routes, Timings & Ticket Cost Of Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Here

Srinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off two new Vande Bharat trains between Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar and Katra on Friday, June 6. PM Modi will also inaugurate the Chenab bridge, the world's highest railway arch bridge during his J&K visit.

Notably, the commercial operation of these trains will start on June 7. The trains will enhance connectivity between Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Katra and the Kashmir Valley.

According to Northern Railway, two Vande Bharat train sets will make four trips during the day between Katra and Srinagar. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) platform will start reflecting these trains for prospective passengers to book tickets after the inauguration, an official said as reported by PTI.

Ticket Cost:

These trains will have two travelling classes Chair Car (CC) and Executive Class (EC). The ticket for the Chair Car will cost Rs Rs 715 and Rs 1,320 for the Executive Class.

Train Route And Timings:

- Train No. 26403: This train will depart from Katra at 2:55 pm and reach Srinagar at 5:53 pm. It will take a two-minute halt at Banihal at 4:40 pm. This train service will not be available on Wednesday.

- Train No. 26404: This train will depart from Srinagar at 08:00 am and arrive in Katra at 10:58 am. It will take two a minute-halt at Banihal at 09:02 am. This train service will not be available on Wednesday.

- Train No. 26401: This train will depart from Katra at 8.10 am and arrive in Srinagar at 11.08 am. It will take a two-minute stop at Banihal at 9.56 am. This train service will not be available on Tuesday.

- Train No. 26402: The cost of a Chair Car ticket for this train will reported to be Rs 880. and Rs 1,515 for the executive class. It will depart from Srinagar at 2 pm and arrive in Katra at 4.58 pm. It will take a two-minute stop at Banihal at 3.08 pm. This train service will not be available on Tuesday.

"During its approximately 3-hour long journey, as of now the trains will only stop at Banihal but later on other stoppages will also be decided," an official said as quoted by the news agency.

PM Modi in Jammu and Kashmir:

PM Modi will inaugurate key infrastructure projects worth Rs. 46,000 crore in Jammu and Kashmir.

"Tomorrow, 6th June is indeed a special day for my sisters and brothers of Jammu and Kashmir. Key infrastructure projects worth Rs. 46,000 crores are being inaugurated which will have a very positive impact on people’s lives," he tweeted on Thursday, June 5.

"In addition to being an extraordinary feat of architecture, the Chenab Rail Bridge will improve connectivity between Jammu and Srinagar. The Anji Bridge stands tall as India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge in a terrain that is challenging," he added.

"The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project ensures all weather connectivity and the Vande Bharat trains from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to Srinagar will boost spiritual tourism and create livelihood opportunities," the Prime Minister highlighted.
