Thomas Tuchel fires Jack Grealish transfer message after private England conversation

Thomas Tuchel has suggested that Jack Grealish should seek a fresh start elsewhere to revive his faltering club and international career. After a tough season with limited playing time under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, Grealish has also lost his spot in the England squad. To add insult to injury, it's anticipated that Grealish will be omitted from Guardiola's squad for the forthcoming Club World Cup.

The 29-year-old made headlines with his British record £100million transfer from Aston Villa to City in 2021. However, he now faces the harsh reality that his time at the Etihad may be drawing to a close. Grealish has been left out of Tuchel's latest squad for the matches against Andorra and Senegal. Despite this, Tuchel has had a conversation with Grealish and remains an admirer of the sidelined City star.

Tuchel acknowledges that Grealish must secure regular first-team football if he hopes to be considered for next summer's World Cup.

With Ollie Watkins unavailable for Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Andorra in Barcelona, Tuchel expressed his unwavering support for Grealish.

"My thoughts are still the same," the England boss said. "I love Jack for his personality and of course his talent. He is a very unique player who can handle big pressure on the field. He is never shy of pressure.

"It's the opposite. He grows in big matches, but he's a player who needs minutes and minutes and minutes - and simply does not get them for a very long time.

"That's basically everything. Nothing has changed. I have maybe the same information as you that City are thinking of not taking him to the Club World Cup.

"So he needs to make himself available by playing. I think it's one of his key strengths. To go every three days and get better and better with every minute that he has in his legs."

Tuchel also revealed that he spoke to Grealish privately both after his first set of England matches and in the aftermath of the FA Cup final, but not since.

"That's what is missing, nothing else," Tuchel added of his desire to see Grealish play regularly. "I have spoken to him after the first international camp and very shortly after the FA Cup final, but not since then."
