Television actor Shoaib Ibrahim has opened up about his wife Dipika Kakar’s ongoing battle with liver cancer and how their two-year-old son Ruhaan coped during her hospital stay. In a heartfelt YouTube vlog, Shoaib shared emotional insights into their current phase, calling it one of the toughest times in their lives.

Ruhaan’s Strength and Family Support

Shoaib expressed immense gratitude for how patient Ruhaan was during Dipika’s absence. “It is commendable to see that Ruhaan was fine. He stayed three days without his mother, with the support of Ammi, Beti Khala, Riza, and others at home,” Shoaib said. However, the toddler did cry one night and was then taken to visit Dipika. “He met Dipika, played with her, and happily returned home with his Nani,” he added.

Dipika has now been shifted out of the ICU and is on the road to recovery. After spending three critical days in intensive care, she is now stable and has even begun walking a little.

“A Very Serious Surgery,” Says Shoaib

Recalling the harrowing day of the surgery, Shoaib revealed that Dipika was taken into the operation theatre at 8:30 a.m. and came out only by 11:30 p.m. The prolonged silence during the procedure left the family extremely anxious. “We were all tensed as the doctors had already warned it would be a long surgery. Around 6–7 p.m., we started panicking because we hadn’t received any updates,” he said.

Shoaib added that it was one of the most difficult days for him and their family. “We had never witnessed such a serious surgery. Thankfully, the doctors had told me earlier that if there’s no update, it usually means things are going smoothly.”

Successful Surgery and Recovery Journey

Dipika, known for her role in Sasural Simar Ka, was diagnosed with stage 2 liver cancer last month. After experiencing severe stomach pain, doctors found a tennis ball-sized tumour in her liver. She recently underwent a 14-hour-long surgery at a Mumbai hospital and spent three days in the ICU.

Shoaib shared that the surgery was successful and the tumour has been removed. The biopsy report is now awaited to confirm if cancer has been entirely cleared. “Alhamdulillah, the scan shows that the cancer cells haven’t spread. Everything is confined to the tumour,” he reassured fans.
