Andy Robertson has confidently dismissed concerns over Milos Kerkez's potential transfer to Liverpool, despite the Bournemouth ace being tipped as his replacement. Since joining the Reds in 2017, Robertson has been instrumental in their success, clinching two Premier League crowns and a Champions League trophy.
However, with the Scotland skipper's contract winding down at Anfield, there's growing speculation about his capacity to maintain peak performance levels.
Robertson faced some challenging matches in Liverpool's recent title-winning campaigns, leading pundits like Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher to suggest it might be time for fresh blood at left-back.
Liverpool's top brass seem to have heeded this advice, setting their sights on Kerkez. Negotiations with Bournemouth are ongoing, but the outlook is promising for a deal to materialise.
Yet, Robertson remains unfazed by the prospect of competition, expressing his self-belief in an interview with BBC Scotland: "We're not daft, it looks as if a deal could potentially be done," said Robertson. "But, until that is done, I've not even given that a second thought. I back myself, I've got confidence in my own ability and that drives me forward."

The seasoned Liverpool star shared his eagerness to continue playing, stating: "I've had eight fantastic years at Liverpool in terms of winning trophies, being a mainstay in the team, which I'm incredibly proud of. I'm not getting any younger, I can't change my age, but I still believe I've got a lot to give and that's what I focus on."
He brushed aside thoughts of competition within the squad: "I focus on myself - you can't focus on other people or who you're competing with. I still believe I have a hell of a lot to give for however many years I can keep going. My body feels good at the minute."
Reflecting on the uncertainty about his performance as he ages, he said confidently: "I can't tell you how I'll feel at 33 or 34, but I can tell you, at 31, I feel excellent. I've been fit for every game, I've not missed a training session and that's not a sign of someone who is slowing down."
Looking ahead, he broadcast his immediate plans: "I've got a year left at Liverpool, I'm looking forward to a switch off, I'm looking forward to a holiday and then I'll look forward to pre-season. What the future holds after that? I've not given it too much thought."
While both clubs retain a degree of 'optimism' towards an agreement, several knots in the deal tenaciously remain in place. The Cherries stand firm with their £45million rating of the young player.
On Saturday it was confirmed that , with speculation rife that a deal was on the brink of completion.
Liverpool's football director, Richard Hughes, is actively engaged in the ongoing discussions, alongside his counterpart Simon Francis from the Cherries. With eyes set on a breakthrough, Kerkez himself is hopeful, though Francis is determined to hold out for the best possible deal.
