New Delhi: The consecration of ‘Raja Ram’—Lord Rama in his king form—is currently underway on the first floor of the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya on Thursday, which is also Ganga Dussehra. This is the second consecration ceremony at the temple. The first ceremony took place on January 22, 2024, when the Ram Lalla idol was consecrated in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to Hindu scriptures, Ganga Dussehra celebrates the day the holy river Ganga came to Earth from Lord Shiva’s hair, thanks to King Bhagirath’s efforts. This day is seen as very special and symbolizes virtue, penance, and the well-being of all people.
Ayodhya astrologer Pandit Kalki Ram stated that any good deeds done on Ganga Dussehra bring great rewards. “Perhaps this is why the Ram Temple Trust chose this day for Raja Ram’s consecration,” he said.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is taking part in the consecration ceremony.
