Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made some changes in the domestic schedule of male and female senior teams for the 2025-26 season. The most important change is about the Test match to be held in Delhi in November.

South Africa’s match will now be in Kolkata

A Test match between India and South Africa was to be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from 14 November. Now this match will be held at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Delhi will get West Indies Test

Under this change, Delhi will now host a Test match against the West Indies in October, which was to be held in Kolkata earlier.

Questions have arisen before pollution

When BCCI announced the schedule in April, there was concern about increasing pollution during winter in Delhi. However, at that time, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia had said that pollution in Delhi does not live throughout the year. Apart from this, the special thing for Team India has been that the team has to play the rest of their matches this year, but the big thing is that in the beginning of 2026, the team’s big matches are to be held and in such a situation, this change can prove to be harmful for the Indian team.

Officially schedule update

On Monday, June 9, BCCI officially gave information about new dates and places. The statement said, “The second Test against the West Indies will now be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The first Test against South Africa will now be in Kolkata.” However, the reason for the change in the statement was not clarified.

Test match was last held in Delhi in 2023

The last Test at Arun Jaitley Stadium was played in February 2023, when India defeated Australia by 6 wickets. Earlier, during the Test match played against Sri Lanka in 2017, the players complained of difficulty in breathing due to bad wind.
