Higher Variants Of Maruti Baleno Score Better In Terms Of Safety: Are Top-End Variants A Better Buy?

The current Maruti Suzuki Baleno has been a consistent seller in the Indian market and the latest generation model has scored a good 4 star rating in Adult occupant protection and 3 stars in the child occupant protection. However, the scores vary a bit where the top-end Zeta and Alpha variants have scored better in the adult occupant protection test.

The Sigma and Delta have scored 24.04 out of 32 while the top-end Zeta and Alpha have scored 26.52 out of 32. The main reason here is the safety equipment on board these variants. Standard there are dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, reverse parking sensors, ISOFIX, seat belt pretensioners and more but the top-end versions get more airbags with 6 in total and that is the reason for the difference in score. In terms of safety the top-end trims are better buys in this regard with 6 airbags.

While the 4 star score remains the same the slight change can be attributed to the airbags on offer. This could also change later in the year as Maruti Suzuki will equip all of its cars with 6 airbags as standard which will further improve the safety of all the variants including the base and lower variants. Currently a lot of the cars in the Maruti Suzuki stable have 6 airbags as standard with only a few cars not offering it like the Baleno and Fronx while this feature will add to the price of the cars but it is worth it as safety is always most important.
