Significant Operation by Delhi Police
The Delhi Police have apprehended a total of 134 Bangladeshi nationals, including 38 women and 43 minors, during a series of 14 operations conducted over the past five months in South Delhi. An official disclosed this information on Wednesday.
These operations took place between December 27, 2024, and June 10, leading to the identification and deportation of individuals residing illegally in various areas of South Delhi.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), Ankit Chauhan, stated, "Multiple teams from the South district conducted rigorous verifications in sensitive areas, including checks on Aadhaar and voter ID cards. These operations are part of a comprehensive strategy to monitor entry points used by undocumented foreign nationals."
Several cases have been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Foreigners Act, the Arms Act, and the Aadhaar Act.
Arrests were made in areas falling under various police stations, including Sangam Vihar, Fatehpur Beri, Lodhi Colony, and Maidan Garhi.
The official noted that five Bangladeshi nationals were detained in one case in Sangam Vihar. In another incident in Fatehpur Beri, two individuals were caught, while Lodhi Colony police arrested eight Bangladeshi nationals in a separate case. Additionally, one Bangladeshi national was apprehended in Maidan Garhi under the Arms Act for possessing illegal weapons.
