Neha Marda has been away from screens since she embraced motherhood, During her pregnancy phase the actress turned into an entrepreneur with her deodorant brand. In an exclusive conversation with Times Of India TV, Neha opened up about her brand, how to manage it and more.
You've turned into an entrepreneur. Tell us a little about how this thought came about
Being a businesswoman was never in my cards or mind. I just feel that I am a very service person. I am someone who is still inclined to work for 10-12 hours a day, being a daily soap actor it is quite a habit. But this is something as an observation that I have seen all my life. You have been working with your co-actors in close proximity. As an actor as well, you have been always conscious of it. In terms of your performance and presentation as well. I have felt it, and I have even received a lot of complaints. Sweating is not a problem but the smell is, it can be from your mouth, feet, underarms and all. I wanted others as well to take care of it just like me. It is a huge problem, though people don't talk about it. So this was the thought all about coming up with my brand. I had a retrospection during my pregnancy. I wanted my brand to be a solution and not a luxury. There has to be healing to the problem.
How does it feel to build something from scratch?
It feels absolutely the same way how you feel having a child. Right from scratch you see how a baby forms itself from a foetus to all the little things building up. Just the same way, a business also has a lot of things like pre and post-production. It is as good as a feeling of having a baby. It is a project for a few years till the time someone takes it away. You focus on each detail while building it to give society its best version. Business is never a perspective, I want to be a passionate maker. It should reach to everybody as a solution. We all smell, so I am glad that I have been able to make something that is for everybody.
Would we see you back on screen soon?
Sooner, maybe within a month. I would talk about it soon maybe in a few days. In a month or so you all would be seeing me every day again. I'll be happy to be seen every day, I have missed my work for a very long time. Motherhood is beautiful but being an actor is what gives me life. I can't do without an actor, no matter what, being an entrepreneur, or how much ever I have been busy. For me, acting is really important. I shall be soon revealing my upcoming ventures.
How supportive have your in-laws' family and husband been?
Support tab karte hai jab unke culture mein nahi hota. The kind of culture we have in our house is educative and we all are working. My mother-in-law believes that if you can do something, then you must do it, you should work and that makes the future generation value a lot of things. My family believes that we must be working and also teaches us the value of time, money, life and self-growth. It pushes you to become a better person. I am very grateful to have inlaws like them.
