In yet another tragic incident, a bridge collapsed at Kundmala in the Maval area near Talegaon Dabhade in Pune on Sunday. The bridge was built over the Indrayani River and is a popular spot for tourists.
At least 6 people have been reported dead.
Because it was a Sunday, many tourists were present. After the old bridge suddenly collapsed, it is feared that around 25 to 30 people may have fallen into the river and drowned.
Local police, disaster response teams, and villagers quickly reached the spot. Rescue operations are in progress. Heavy rain in Maval for the last two days has raised the water level in the Indrayani River, making rescue efforts more difficult.
As per the fire department, 18 to 20 ambulances have been rushed to the spot. According to the fire department, Rescue Van and Fire Tender boats have already left for the rescue.
As per the information, three deaths have been reported so far.
More official information is expected soon.
