Actor Raveena Tandon’s latest Instagram post about flying with Air India has stirred conversation online, just days after the devastating crash of AI171 in Ahmedabad on June 12, which claimed 260 lives.

Raveena took to Instagram to share her experience of boarding an Air India flight in the aftermath of the tragedy. She posted pictures from her journey and noted the shift in atmosphere aboard the aircraft. Describing it as “solemn,” she added that the airline crew’s usual welcoming smiles “were tinted with sadness.”
In a show of solidarity, the actress wrote, “Godspeed always @airindia,” in her caption, which many interpreted as an empathetic message to the crew and airline.

Reddit divided over Raveena’s viral post
While several fans appreciated Raveena’s thoughtful words, others online, particularly on Reddit, criticised the timing of her post. Some speculated whether it was part of a promotional campaign for the airline, calling it “tone-deaf” given the proximity to the fatal crash.
One Reddit user commented, “Putting up an Air India promotion post just right after 4 days of such a horrific crash is just so tone-deaf.” Another questioned, “Ghar tabaah hogye logon ke aur aapko kis cheez ki strength chahiye.”
Despite the backlash, some users defended her, suggesting the post was meant to support anxious travellers and encourage confidence in the airline. “Messages like these make me feel better,” one wrote.
Ahmedabad plane crash
An Air India flight en route to London tragically crashed just five minutes after take-off from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Thursday afternoon. The aircraft, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner identified as Air India 171, was carrying 242 people on board, 230 passengers and 12 crew members.
According to officials, the pilot had issued a mayday call to Air Traffic Control moments before the crash, indicating a possible emergency. Flight AI171 was scheduled to depart at 1:10 PM for Gatwick Airport in London. It was being operated by Captain Sumeet Sabharwal along with First Officer Clive Kundar.
