Hong Kong actor Henry Lo has officially ended his 27-year career with broadcaster TVB, following a remark that his earnings may have been lower than those of a full-time dishwasher.

According to The StarLo confirmed in an interview with Hk01 that his contract had quietly come to an end with no discussions about renewal.
“As the contract neared its end, the company simply called me in to settle my Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF),” he said. “Once everything was calculated, it was over.”
Since leaving the broadcaster, Lo has turned to livestreaming and filming commercials in mainland China. He noted that a single successful livestream session could earn him as much as three years’ worth of salary at TVB.
In April this year, Lo publicly criticized TVB in an interview for cutting several of his show appearances, a decision he said severely affected his income.
“I hope to receive fair and proper treatment,” he said at the time. “I understand that every company faces tough times, but I still have rent to pay and need to live a normal life. A full-time dishwasher might earn more than I do.”
The actor also revealed that several of his fellow senior TVB colleagues are preparing to leave the network and seek new opportunities.
Lo, 67, made his screen debut in the 1980 drama “Shanghai Bund” alongside Chow Yun Fat. Over the decades, he became a familiar face in Hong Kong television with roles in “Detective Investigation Files II,” “Gods of Honor,” “Wong Fei Hung: Master of Kung Fu,” “Forensic Heroes,” and “Legend of the Demigods.”
