Marnas Labushen drops from the team
Test specialist Batter Marnas Labushen will not be part of Australia’s playing XI in the first Test match against West Indies. Cricket Australia shared this information on its official website on Friday 20 June. In place of Labushen, Sam Constance has been included in the final-11.
Labushen’s performance has not been good for some time. Due to which there was a lot of pressure on the selectors to exclude them. At the same time, there was a demand to feed Sam Constance. Now in the same episode, the Australian cricket team has taken this big step.
6 years out of final 11 after 6 years
Marnas Labushen will be out of Australia’s Test 11 for the first time since 2019. In the last six years, he has been continuously giving his services in red ball cricket. However, in the 2023-25 WTC bicycle, the 30-year-old player had only 974 runs in 38 innings at an average of 27.82.
During this time he was able to score the same century. Labushen could score 17 and 22 respectively in two innings of the World Test Championship of the World Test Championship 2025 against South Africa.
Chief selector made a statement
Cricket Australia Chief Selector George Bailey asked Marnas Labushen to drop from the first Test match against the West Indies,
“Marnas can prove to be really important for this team in his best form. He understands that his performance has not been at the level we or he expects. We will continue working with him on the areas of his game, which we feel that we need to improve again. We give importance to their skills and hope that they will face the challenges positively in a positive way.”
