Atmanaveshana, an exhibition showcasing the works of artist Amrit Kapoor and sculptor Suresh Kumar, opened on June 19 at the Main Art Gallery, Bikaner House, New Delhi. The show is on view from June 20 to 23, between 11am and 7pm daily. Amrit, who holds a doctorate in Fine Arts from Kanpur University, is exhibiting a selection of her recent paintings rooted in ideas drawn from nature, philosophy, and personal reflection. Her work includes four series –
Symphony, which interprets music through visual elements;
Dichotomy, which explores the divide between emotion and reason;
Harmony, which looks at the idea of visual balance; and
Utopian World, which examines themes of happiness, morality, and the self.
Suresh Kumar on the other hand, is presenting a set of bronze sculptures shaped by Indian sculptural traditions and contemporary concerns. His work focuses on the relationship between material, technique, and meaning, engaging with both classical aesthetics and spiritual ideas. Together, the exhibition showcaseshow two different practices approach questions of identity, thought, and form.
