A mum from Rochdale has been banned from leaving Turkey unless she pays a £15,000 fine for the "worst mistake" of her life. Georgia Harrison now fears she may never get to see her girl after a drunken mistake turned into a worst nightmare, trapping her for six weeks in the country.
The 32-year-old had been enjoying a drink with her partner, Arron, to celebrate his new veneers when she accidentally smashed a shower screen at the Lexia Hotel in Antalya, where they had been staying. Panicked, they left the hotel in a taxi to the airport, but claimed they were chased down by two cars, which blocked their path. The taxi driver took pity on the pair and refused to open the doors because they said the vehicle in pursuit "was becoming aggressive".

Concerned about their safety, the taxi driver called the police, and the British couple were then taken to the police station, put under arrest, and a travel ban was later enforced.
The mum from Rochdale said she asked for a lawyer, but was told none were available at 2am in the morning. Instead, she claimed her translator told her to admit what she had done and agree to pay, or face prison.
Then "out of fear", Georgia signed a statement that had been written in Turkish, agreeing to pay the hotel £15,000 in order to drop the charges and get her travel ban lifted.
Once she was released, her family managed to get the £15,000, and she said the embassy suggested instructing a lawyer.
She explained on a GoFundMe page: "He [the lawyer] said paying the £15,000 is absurd for the damage I had done, and to give a more reasonable offer to the judge. He advised that £3,000 was enough to cover any damage, labour to fix, and the inconvenience I had made."

She added: "This has been declined, and I am now awaiting trial - this could take one year, and we have had no progression on getting me home to my little girl.
"The £15,000 my family was able to give me has halved since having to buy hotels, food and flights/boats I have tried to get on and was stopped."
"I have had to call my family and say goodbye countless times, because I feel so unsafe and truthfully don't believe il ever get back to them.
"I know I did wrong and I regret being so stupid to have damaged the hotel, but I need to get home to my daughter. I feel so unsafe."
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help her return home.
