The King Tata and Mahindra of the SUV segment in India are going to increase difficulties. Because very soon German automobile company BMW is planning to launch a powerful SUV in India. The company has increased the focus on mass production of hydrogen fuel cell SUV.

BMW is planning to launch the new hydrogen SUV by 2028. Other companies are struggling over the battery, charging and range of electric cars. At the same time, it is believed that this BMW car can change the electric vehicle (EV) market forever.

What is hydrogen fuel cell technology?

BMW claims that hydrogen fuel cell technology can prove to be a better option than battery -powered electric vehicles in many cases. The biggest feature of this technique is that it does not have a hassle of charging, because hydrogen filling is fine and easy like petrol or diesel. Also, there is no need to worry about the age or range of the battery. Hydrogen -powered vehicles can travel long distances and their refueling time is also very low. The most important thing is that this technique is based on zero emission, which is considered completely safe for the environment.

Car will be launched in 2028

In 2024, the company brought the prototype of its first hydrogen SUV, IX5 Hydrogen to the world. Now BMW is going to use this hydrogen fuel cell technology in its production SUV to be launched in 2028. This SUV will be based on the next generation X5 platform and will run completely from hydrogen fuel cell. The company believes that this vehicle will be a symbol of future green mobility and will be a major step towards environmentally friendly transport.

Direct collision with Tata-Mahindra

The X5 direct competition in India will be with Tata and Mahindra. Hydrogen infrastructure is currently very limited in India, but the government is taking fast steps in this direction under the ‘Green Hydrogen Mission’. A plan has been prepared to encourage hydrogen based mobility in the country by 2030. In such a situation, if BMW steps with hydrogen SUV in the Indian market, it will increase the pressure of technical competition on domestic companies like Tata, Mahindra and Hyundai, which can lead to sharp progress towards clean mobility in the country.
