New Delhi: A storm of controversy has engulfed the K-pop industry yet again. Former THE BOYZ member Ju Haknyeon’s contract was suddenly terminated following claims of alleged prostitution. On Friday (June 20), the K-pop idol broke his silence in a detailed Instagram statement, where serious accusations were levelled against his former agency.

Ju Haknyeon stated that his removal from THE BOYZ and the termination of his exclusive contract had not been mutually agreed upon. Rather, the decisions were said to have been made unilaterally by the agency, without his consent or adherence to due contractual process.

He wrote, “Despite there being no valid reason for contract termination as outlined in my contract, my agency is attempting to fabricate such grounds. I have never withdrawn from the group, nor have I ever consented to the termination of my exclusive contract.”

The situation escalated when reports emerged linking Ju Haknyeon to former Japanese adult film actress Asuka Kirara. These surfaced after Japanese media reportedly sent a letter of inquiry to ONE HUNDRED, questioning a private meeting between the two. Soon after, rumours of prostitution began circulating, which the singer firmly denied.

“If there is any evidence that I engaged in prostitution, I urge that it be made public immediately,” he stated, adding that malicious articles were being circulated without factual basis. He also shared that a demand for 2 billion KRW (approximately $ 1.46 million) had been made by the agency as part of a compensation request, which he never accepted.

In the same post, Ju Haknyeon expressed feelings of fear and helplessness. “To be honest, I am very frightened. But I realised that if I give in here, this society may become a place where people without power can be destroyed over things they did not do,” he wrote.

Why was Ju Haknyeon removed from THE BOYZ?

ONE HUNDRED had earlier announced his suspension, citing “personal reasons,” followed by a statement two days later confirming his departure from the group. The timing of these statements, coupled with the allegations, triggered widespread speculation online.

The matter is now under police investigation, with a complaint having been officially filed on June 19. The case has been handed to the Women and Juvenile Crime Investigation Team 4 of the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul.

Ju Haknyeon concluded his message with a vow to “see this through to the end,” not only to clear his name but to inspire others facing similar injustices.
