In the first innings, he came on the field after KL Rahul was dismissed, but he could not face the English bowlers and returned to the pavilion after being out on the fourth ball. Sai Sudarshan was selected to bat on number-3 in the team before Abhimanyu Ishwaran, where he failed to prove himself.

This happened after 14 years

With his debut in his debut Test match, many unwanted records have been recorded in the name of Sai Sudarshan. This was the first time in the history of Indian Test cricket, when a batsman was out on zero while batting on number-3 in the debut Test innings.

Apart from this, Sudarshan has also become the third Indian batsman who was out without opening an account while batting in the top-3 in the debut Test innings. Prior to him, Krishnamachari Srikanth and Dewang Gandhi were out on zero like this and both of these batsmen landed as openers. At the same time, Sudarshan is the 29th Indian to be dismissed on Duck in Debut Test innings.
