Indus water treatment: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has made it clear that India has decided to permanently suspend the Indus Water Treaty and now the treaty will not be restored. He alleged that Pakistan has violated the terms of the agreement, so it would not get the water that was getting earlier. In an interview to Times of India, Amit Shah said, “No, this (treaty) will never be restored. It is not easy to cancel international treaties unilaterally, but we had the right to suspend it and we did the same.” He said that this treaty was done for the purpose of peace and progress between India and Pakistan, but when its terms were broken, its justification was over.

India takes action after the Pahalgam terror attack

After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April, India has started taking strict measures against Pakistan. 26 tourists lost their lives in this attack, causing a wave of anger and sorrow in India. Soon after, India suspended the Indus Water Treaty with immediate effect and many diplomatic decisions such as expel Pakistani citizens were also taken.

What did Amit Shah say after condemning the Pahalgam attack?

Union Home Minister Amit Shah strongly condemned the Pahalgam attack and described it as a conspiracy to disturb peace in Kashmir and mislead the youth. “The Pahalgam attack was deliberately carried out to prevent growing tourism in Kashmir and remove the youth from the path of development, but the people of the valley are now standing with India more than ever.” Home Minister Amit Shah claimed that India responded to Pakistan’s airbase in retaliation, due to which Pakistan had to appeal for a ceasefire.
