Murder Investigation Leads to Arrest in Punjab

The Punjab police have apprehended a suspect from Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh in connection with the murder of a young woman living in a live-in relationship in Ludhiana. An official provided this update on Sunday.

According to the officer, the suspect was transported to Punjab under 'transit remand' on the same day. Inspector Aditya Sharma, who is overseeing the Ludhiana police investigation, revealed that the arrested individual, Sunil Kumar, hails from Khwajajot village in the Dhanepur area and had traveled to Ludhiana for work, where he met a 20-year-old woman named Radhika, who was employed at a factory.

The two had been cohabiting in a rented accommodation in the Fatehganj area for the past six months, and it is alleged that they had a marriage ceremony at a temple.

Sharma noted that the investigation revealed Radhika was already married, a fact she had concealed from Sunil. He mentioned that Sunil discovered this information about Radhika's past a few days ago, leading to a heated argument between them. The dispute escalated on the night of June 8, resulting in Sunil strangling Radhika to death.

After committing the crime, the suspect returned to Gonda. Sharma stated that a complaint was filed by Radhika's brother, Rahul. The Ludhiana police utilized surveillance techniques to track down the suspect and arrested him with the assistance of local law enforcement.
