Dimple Kapadia was offered the lead role According to IMDb the role of Megha Dixit played by Dimple Kapadia was first offered to Sridevi but she turned it down. Similarly the role of Mamta played by Mamta Kulkarni was also offered to Kajol but she turned it down. Krantiveer turned out to be the third highest-grossing film of the year 1994. Krantiveer won three Screen Awards four Filmfare Awards and a National Film Award. The film has been remade in Telugu as Punya Bhoomi Naa Desam (1995) and in Kannada as Parodi (2007).
