EPFO raised auto-settlement limit to Rs 5 lakh

Delhi Delhi:The Employees Provident Fund Affairs (EPFO) has increased the auto-settlement limit from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh for advance claims, which will allow members to get more funds at the time of need. The EPFO ​​introduced auto-settlement of advance claims for the first time during the Kovid-19 epidemic to provide quick financial assistance to the members. Since then, this facility has been extended to cover the advance claims for disease, education, marriage and housing purposes. These claims are automatically processed by the system without any human intervention, ensuring quick changes and transparency.

A statement by the Ministry of Labor states that this step is part of the widespread effort of EPFO ​​to improve service distribution using technology. With an increased range of Rs 5 lakh, additional advance claims will now be eligible for auto-settlement, which will be processed within three days of deposit. This will help the enlarged limit and the speed to the speed to get financial assistance on time when they will require the most.

In 2024–25, EPFO ​​achieved a significant achievement by successfully processing the record 2.34 crore advance claims through auto-settlement, reflecting a rapid increase of 161% compared to the previous year. In 2024-25, about 59% of all advance claims were dealt with through auto mode. Continuing this growth, in the first two and a half months of FY 2025-26, EPFO ​​has already auto-settlement of 76.52 lakh claims, which is about 70% of all the advance claims settled so far. This increase focuses strong on the automation of EPFO ​​and providing faster, more efficient services to its members. The Labor Ministry said in a statement that the step confirms the government’s commitment to make EPFO ​​members easier. It said that EPFO ​​will continue to take advantage of technology and process simplification to ensure a uninterrupted and efficient service experience. These reforms have not only accelerated the claim settlement process, but have also helped to reduce the complaints of the members, making it easier for the members to live.
