Actually, many years ago, more than 900 people committed suicide in Guyana, USA. This incident is considered to be the world’s biggest suicide. This incident is from Johnstown. Where more than 900 people drank poison together, those who did not drink poison were forced to drink poison.

The incident took place on 18 November 1978. A religious leader named Jim Jones was behind the incident. Jim Jones used to call himself the incarnation of God. In order to make himself famous among the people, he created a church named ‘People’s Temple’ in the year 1956 in the name of helping the needy. On the strength of his religion and superstition, he made thousands of people his followers. Jim Jones’ views were different from the US government. He along with his followers moved away from the city to Guyana forests.

He had settled a small village here, but only after a few days his reality started coming to the people. Jim Jones used to work with his followers throughout the day. When those followers slept at night, he would not even let them sleep. During this time he used to start his speech. His soldiers used to see from house to house that no one was sleeping. If someone was found guilty, he was punished hard. Jim Jones did not even let people go out of the village.

His soldiers kept guarding the village so that no one could run away. The US government came to know about the activities there in those days. After this, the government thought about action. Jim Jones was aware of this. After this, he asked all his followers to gather at one place.

During this, Jones told the people, “The US government is coming to kill all of us. Before we sieve us with bullets, we all should drink holy water. By doing this we will save the pain of bullets.” Jones had already added dangerous poison to a soft drink in a large tub. After this, he gave it to his people to drink. Anyone who refused to drink poison was forced to drink poison. Then more than 900 people died after drinking this poison. More than 300 children also lost their lives in this. After this, Jim Jones also shot himself.
