
Gujarat's famous dairy company Amul has warned people that a new fake scam is going on on WhatsApp and other social media platforms. In this, people are being offered a voucher of Rs 5,000 by using Amul's logo and the photo of Amul Girl and are being asked to click on a link.
Amul issued a public warning on social media platform X (earlier Twitter) and wrote, We want to inform you that a fake gift voucher with the photo of Amul Girl is being shared on WhatsApp and social media. This voucher has not been issued by Amul.

The company further said, the web link given in this message takes customers to fake websites, through which fraud is being done. Amul said that they have blacklisted many such fake links and legal action will also be taken against those involved in this scam.

Online scams increasing across the country.
This new Amul scam is another example of the rapidly increasing cases of online fraud in the country. According to the annual report of the Union Home Ministry for 2023-24, 43,797 complaints related to cyber fraud were registered on WhatsApp alone. Apart from this, 22,680 complaints were registered from Telegram and 19,800 from Instagram in the first quarter of 2024.
The report also states that cyber fraudsters are now using Google's services, especially advertising platforms. Fraudsters from abroad are also targeting India through Google Ad Services, due to which online fraud is increasing rapidly.
