The much-anticipated Grand Canyon-like glass skywalk to be built in Pune district's Lonavala has been put on the back burner, reportedly due to a lack of interest from bidders in the current public-private partnership model. Despite the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) floating tenders twice, including international bids, not even one taker came forward.
What now?
Now, the project is set to undergo a complete redesign and will be implemented on a new model. It is likely to include a viability gap funding model to push forward the project.

Facilities for adventure sports like zip lining and bungee jumping, an amphitheatre for 1,000 people, 24 gazebos, and a parking space for 1,500 cars and 2,000 two-wheelers were also to be constructed as part of the project design. However, with the project design set to be changed, we have to wait and watch.
