Sky News halted for 'breaking news' announcement after Keir Starmer incident

presenter Jane Secker halted her usual broadcast to share breaking news about Prime Minister 's home. "Breaking news coming to us from the Metropolitan Police," she said. "They say that in the early hours of this morning, police were alerted by London fire brigade to attend a fire at a residential address in North West . Officers attended the scene. Damage was caused to the property's entrance.

"Nobody was hurt, but The Times is reporting that it was the Prime Minister's home that was damaged this morning. Nobody was injured. The police say the fire is being investigated, and cordons remain in place while inquiries continue. Anyone with any information is asked to call the police. So the Metropolitan Police confirming that police were called after a London Fire Brigade were called to...a fire at a residential address in northwest London officers...and the address is believed to be that of the Prime Minister," she said.

The address is understood to be the family home of , where he lived with his wife and children before moving into No.10 Downing Street after his election victory.

During the pandemic he was frequently seen outside the property on Thursday nights as the nation joined together to "clap for heroes".

A cordon is now in place shutting down the whole street in Islington. It is understood that the prime minister's front door was damaged though no one was hurt.

The home was listed to rent last November after he and his family moved out and into the official residence of the Prime Minister off Whitehall.

Sir Keir bought the home in 2004 for £650,000, though it's now worth £2 million.

After carrying out a loft conversion, the four bedroom property was thought to be worth between £3,000 and £5,000 a month to rent.

By February this year, the official list of ministers' interests said the home is now being let.

Sir Keir's home has frequently been targeted by protesters, including in April last year when activists from a pro-Palestinian group placed children's shoes in his front garden and hung a banner on the hedge.
