Pakistani actress Ushna Shah has stirred widespread discussion on social media after criticizing Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai for what she described as a delayed response to the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.
Responding to Malala’s recent public statement urging the international community to “put maximum pressure on Israel to end the genocide in Gaza,” Ushna Shah commented in a mocking way, “Bari Jaldi Khayal Aya.” The remark reflected frustration over what many perceive as Malala’s prolonged silence amid escalating violence in the region.
The Gaza crisis has intensified in recent months, with thousands of Palestinians killed and many more displaced due to continued Israeli military operations. The humanitarian situation has drawn global outrage, with urgent calls for ceasefire, medical aid, and international intervention.
Malala, known for her advocacy of girls’ education and human rights, stated, “Our collective humanity calls for global and immediate action,” in reference to the atrocities taking place in Gaza. However, the timing of her statement has drawn scrutiny from several quarters, including public figures like Ushna Shah, who believe global influencers should have acted and spoken out much earlier.
The backlash underscores growing expectations from internationally recognized figures to take timely and vocal stands during humanitarian crises, particularly when the stakes involve widespread civilian suffering and allegations of war crimes.
As the conflict continues to escalate, the pressure remains on world leaders, public figures, and organizations to not only condemn the violence but also push for urgent and meaningful action to protect innocent lives in Gaza.
Meanwhile, the humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate. Israel has maintained a complete blockade of aid to the region for more than 80 days. According to recent updates from the United Nations, no humanitarian assistance has been allowed to enter Gaza during this period, exacerbating the suffering of its population.
The UN has issued a dire warning regarding the worsening malnutrition crisis in Gaza. It estimates that approximately 14,000 children are at risk of dying if immediate aid is not delivered within the next 48 hours. The agency has urged the international community to act swiftly to prevent further loss of life and to uphold the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people.
