Congress President Calls for Urgent Parliamentary Discussion
On Sunday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge reiterated his party's demand for a special session of Parliament to address 'Operation Sindoor' and the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
Speaking to reporters, Kharge emphasized that the central government should take cues from Pakistan, which has convened its Parliament to deliberate on these incidents. He urged India to exhibit similar seriousness in handling such matters.
Kharge stressed that the entire nation stands firmly with the armed forces and called for unity on issues related to national security. He also urged political leaders to exercise restraint and avoid politicizing military actions.

In a jab at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kharge remarked, 'We must know when to speak and when to remain silent. There should be unity in national matters, and the focus should be on defeating our adversaries. All leaders across the country should refrain from commenting on national security issues. It is better to understand what has happened before making statements. There should be no electioneering before the delegation's report is out. PM Modi should avoid making election speeches and unnecessary self-praise. The entire nation stands with our armed forces.'

Kharge also questioned the Prime Minister's public comments regarding military operations, noting that Modi had previously stated he granted full authority to the armed forces. Kharge asked, 'Why is he speaking again? The Prime Minister should refrain from self-congratulatory speeches. We have suggested convening Parliament for discussions. Even Pakistan has called its Parliament to engage in dialogue. None of us will speak against the country.'
