Accident Overview

The doors of the four sacred shrines have opened, and pilgrims have begun their journeys despite heavy rainfall caused by the monsoon. Unfortunately, nature and human negligence can sometimes lead to tragic outcomes. A heartbreaking incident occurred in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, where a mini bus carrying pilgrims fell into the Alaknanda River early Thursday morning. This accident, which took place between Rudraprayag and Gauchar near Gholtir village, resulted in the deaths of two individuals, with ten others reported missing.

Details of the Incident

According to information from the police superintendent's office, eight people sustained injuries in the accident. Among the passengers was a family from Udaipur, Rajasthan, who were on a pilgrimage to the Char Dham. Upon receiving news of the incident, police and the state disaster response force quickly arrived at the scene to initiate rescue operations.

Rescue Efforts

The mini bus, which has a capacity of 31 passengers, was carrying 20 devotees, including the driver, at the time of the accident as it was en route to Badrinath. Rescue teams reported that some passengers were thrown onto the hillside during the crash and were subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed that two bodies were recovered from the site, while ten passengers remain unaccounted for, having been swept away with the bus into the river.
